We Recommend...
A few brands, products, and services that we admire (and use!)

As we discover good products or services, we enjoy sharing the love with others...and no, we don't get anything in return. It's just good karma! Stay tuned for regular updates...

We love these handcrafted cases because they have the same look and feel of a nice Moleskine notebook, and they're made in our (old) hometown of San Francisco using traditional bookbinding techniques. They have since expanded into high quality leather goods--I'm a big fan of the leather bookback for my iPhone and we both use their leather passport holders when traveling. My Kindle case also gets a lot of compliments! (ps...Obama has a Dodocase too!)

We've done two trips in New Zealand with UltimateHikes - Routeburn Track and Milford Track. Both were amazing experiences, and they combine the best of the "glamping" experience (3 course meals, wine, beds, hot showers, drying rooms) on two beautiful Great Walks. We only wish they had lodges on more tracks in NZ...

Wine and Food
Bullion Cellars fills a great niche for us - four times a year we get a mixed case of four different wines (1 white, 3 reds) that are hand selected by various well-known sommeliers in Sydney. They are "expensive" bottles (we define "expensive" as anything around $30) and you know you're getting high quality stuff, often at less than retail.  We don't like winery club memberships because you're locked into a single producer, and we don't like buying "expensive" wine at the bottle shop because there's always the risk we won't like it (and you can't try it first).

We met Matt and Stu a number of years ago at a Taste of Sydney event and woke up the next morning with a hangover and a bit of buyers remorse ("we signed up for WHAT?"), but the club has been awesome and we always love the wines in each shipment. Highly recommend if you throw (or attend) a lot of dinner parties, or if you want "expensive" wine that you know will be good.

When you drink as much wine as we do, you need to have a nice glass...and we've done enough blind glass tastings to know that it really does make a difference. Maybe it's all in our heads, but we don't mind, as long as our brains think it tastes better...

Curt Yagi & The People Standing Behind Me - I met Curt a long time ago in San Francisco (we played on the same soccer team) and we instantly loved his music. Since that time he's released two albums and has been playing a lot of gigs throughout the Bay Area. When we get tired of Jack Johnson, we put on Curt for some good chill-out music, but it's also quite upbeat and I love the brass backgrounds (I've just realised how difficult is it to describe music). Anyways, check out his songs and support a local artist, he's also a really great guy and is Executive Director of a nonprofit (ROCK) providing kids with sports and fitness based after school activities.

Who doesn't like Jack? Perfect tunes when you're relaxing at the beach on on the balcony....he's our go-to playlist when traveling to our beach-y destinations (and at home).

I've listened to Jack ever since my college years when he would play shows in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo...even have a signed poster in a closet somewhere!
